"NO ADDED PRESERVATIVE"

After reading an article in the sun newspaper titled “laughing all the way to the Banksy” I decided to make a piece of work to question whether illegal graffiti should be protected and preserved for others to enjoy and what makes Banksy graffiti acceptable over other graffiti that is quite often removed or painted over.

The article described how property owners where busy trying to protect Banksys graffiti, that had appeared on their buildings. With Banksy’s art now fetching high prices at auction, it was believed the artwork could in fact boost the value of their property by £150,000

The article went on to explain how two new pieces of Banksy’s work had appeared recently and the owners where planning on covering the new works with large sheets of clear Perspex in a attempt to preserve the work.

I had decided that if my work was to have any impact then I would have to try and adopt Banksy sense of humour, timing and placement.
